Category Error women’s collective comprises artists working the interface between art, design and material culture. The term is drawn from philosophy, notably from the work of Gilbert Ryle, and is used to highlight faulty thought in which properties which apply to one category of experience are attributed to another. It has been appropriated by the collective to reference the conceptual and material translations that inform aspects of their creative practice.
